Ferrol, 4 de agosto de 2025.- The University of A Coruña (UDC) opens the application process for a 3-year predoctoral position funded by the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Networks (Horizon Europe).
The appointed researcher will work at the Functional Polymer Materials Laboratory of CITENI, at the Ferrol Industrial Campus, under the supervision of Jaime Martín and Xabier Rodríguez. Their work will focus on the behavior of doped organic semiconducting polymers in the field of organic electronics.
An international project of excellence
The selected candidate will join the international excellence project FADOS (Fundamentals and Applications of Doped Organic Semiconductors), promoted by an international consortium coordinated by Heidelberg University (Germany), bringing together 16 leading research groups from universities, research centers, and companies across Europe, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland.
The project aims to advance the understanding and design of doped organic semiconductors, key materials for developing new sustainable electronic devices, such as organic solar cells and next-generation optoelectronic components.
Frontier research at CITENI
At UDC, the work will focus on experimental studies and machine-learning analysis of doping processes in semiconducting polymers, as well as on the thermodynamics, microstructure, and electronic properties of these materials.
The training offered is highly interdisciplinary and international, combining cutting-edge research with secondments in leading academic and industrial centers to ensure the transfer of results to real-world applications.
It includes training in advanced techniques such as fast scanning calorimetry, X-ray diffraction at synchrotron facilities, and thin-film processing, as well as two international secondments at the CNRS , France) and at the Swedish company Epishine AB, specialized in printed organic solar cells.
Profile and conditions
The call is aimed at candidates with a master’s degree in Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, or related fields, with an interest in organic electronics and interdisciplinary research. In addition, candidates must meet the mobility requirements of Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA).
The contract will last 36 months and offers a competitive salary according to European MSCA standards, including mobility allowances and, where applicable, family support.
